Sloppy Joe Pita Sandwiches

This dinner is super kid-friendly and easy to make, covering all the bases and coming through in a pinch.

SERVES 8

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • ½ cup chopped celery or green pepper
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • ⅛ tsp pepper
  • 4 pita breads, for serving

Combine ground beef, onion, and celery in a large skillet. Sauté for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.

Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.

Cook, covered, over medium heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cut pitas in half. Fill each half with meat sauce and serve.
