A delicious, classic dessert with a quick, three-ingredient crumb topping.
SERVES 10 TOPPING
- 1 cup flour
- 1⁄2 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1⁄2 cup margarine or canola oil
FILLING
- 3 lbs (11⁄2 kg) MacIntosh apples, peeled and sliced (about 10 apples)
- 1⁄4 cup flour
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1⁄4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar (optional)
- 1 Tbsp cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix topping ingredients in a bowl until crumbly. Combine filling ingredients in a 9x13-inch (20x30-cm) baking pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle topping over filling. Bake for one hour or until apples are bubbling.
